Boarding Policy

We offer dedicated pet boarding services, providing a secure and nurturing environment for your beloved companion.

True Companion Animal Hospital Boarding Policy

Vaccinations

  • Pets over 4 months of age must be up to date on vaccinations to be eligible for boarding. If your pet is under the age of 4 months and has not received all of its vaccinations, it will be considered high risk as it will not have complete immunity against many diseases we vaccinate for.
  • Pets are expected to be up to date on vaccinations within 72 hours of their stay.
    • Dogs: Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, negative fecal within 1 year
    • Cats: Rabies, FVRCP, proof of negative FeLV/FIV status
  • Boarding pets are required to have had an exam at TCAH within 1 year of boarding stay.

Internal and External Parasites

  • All pets must be free of parasites, including fleas and ticks. If a pet is found to have any parasites, it will be treated at regular hospital rates.
  • We expect pets to be on heartworm and intestinal parasite prevention yearly. If your pet is not protected, it is the responsibility of the pet owner to pay for treatments for any parasites found on examination.

Personal Belongings and Medications

  • Our staff will administer your pet’s medications with no additional fees. Prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, and supplements must be in their original containers as dispensed. Medications will not be accepted in plastic bags, unlabeled containers, or mixed in with pre-packaged food.
  • Our clients are encouraged to bring their pet’s own regular food for their stay but will be fed with our easily digestible veterinary diet otherwise. Raw or uncooked food is not permitted as its storage and handling may pose significant health risks to our staff and patients in our facility. Please inform our staff if your pet has any specific dietary restrictions.
  • Bringing comfort items for your pet’s stay such as beds, blankets, and toys is allowed but discouraged due to sanitation and orderliness requirements. Our facility is not responsible for any lost or soiled personal items.

Medical Illness/Injury

  • One of the advantages of boarding your pet with your veterinarian is that medical attention is readily available for patients in our facility. If your pet needs medical attention, we will contact you with any phone numbers left with us at check-in. If we are unable to contact you, your pet will be treated as deemed necessary by one of our veterinarians, at regular hospital rates. If your pet is currently on any medication or supplement, please inform us at admission and have medications in original bottles.
  • Occasionally pets may develop problems from environmental and dietary changes. Signs may include vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, sneezing, and self-trauma such as scratching or biting their skin. We take great care so that these problems won’t occur and we treat our patients promptly, if needed. However, please be aware that these conditions can develop and the hospital is not financially responsible for these inherent conditions if they occur.

High Risk Boarding

  • Clients with pets who are geriatric or have chronic medical conditions may be required to sign our high-risk boarding waiver at check-in. We take great care to give pets of all ages and needs the special attention they require, and that may look different for every
    pet.
  • If you have any questions or concerns about your pet’s health or eligibility for staying with us in our boarding facility, give us a call to chat with someone from our team to help evaluate your pet’s specific needs.

Rates and Payment

  • Boarding rates are calculated on a nightly basis. All other services rendered are charged at the regular hospital rates.
  • A standard bath with a complimentary nail trim is offered to all dogs staying with us in boarding. Baths are charged by the size of your dog.
  • Payment for boarding and all other services rendered are required at the time of pick-up.
