   APPOINTMENT TRIAGE

In order to aid you in determining when it is best to bring your pet in, we have provided the following information.

EMERGENCY PATIENTS
The following situations are considered an immediate medical emergency. Please bring your pet in immediately. Do not schedule an appointment for later that day.

  • Any pet who is extremely lethargic, depressed or non-responsive
  • Pets which have been traumatized – Hit By Car, Kicked by horse, person, etc)
  • Pets unable to urinate (especially cats)
  • Any pet with difficulty breathing in any form
  • Pets with severe, repeated bloody diarrhea
  • An animal with a bloated abdomen who appears distressed
  • Pets which are seizuring
  • A pet who cannot walk or use their legs

NON- EMERGENCY PATIENTS
(BUT NEED TO BE SEEN THAT DAY AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE)

The following situations are not emergencies but should be seen as early in the day as possible. If you cannot make an appointment until later in the day, please try to have a friend or family member bring your pet in as a drop off earlier in the day. These conditions may require hospitalization and can best be treated when we have multiple hours of treatment time available.

  • Diarrhea and/or Vomiting
  • Non- weight bearing lameness (not an emergency but we need time to get the xrays)
  • Not eating
  • Anything the matter with the eyes
  • Painful Pet
  • Bloody discharge from anywhere (urine, stool, nose, eyes, ears, etc)
  • Coughing
  • Frequent urination (as long as the pet is able to urinate)

NON-EMERGENCY PATIENTS
(BUT NEED TO BE SEEN SOON BUT NOT NECESSARILY SAME DAY)
Most of these patients can be seen at your convenience as long as the pet is not suffering unduly. Rest assured that we will always see your pet on the day that you call when needed even if it means working him in a busy day. We don’t want any sad, suffering little guys or gals!

  • Most Ear Problems
  • Skin Problems
  • Most lameness unless non-weight bearing
  • Coughing or Sneezing (as long as breathing is ok)
  • Frequent urination (as long as the pet is able to urinate)
